Exercise Black Cat
12/14th June 1992
Salisbury Plain, Wiltshire

June saw Exercise Black Cat as the main weekend as a brigade exercise on Salisbury Plain.  It was also the first chance for the new battalion to train together.  There was a first class turn out by 5 platoon, which made for much better training value.

Saturday was spent on platoon level training and tactics including a short heli-lift.

The battalion undertook a night move across the Plain to Imber Village with G Coy as point Company and 5 platoon taking point position.  Regular previous night time training ensured that the move went well and the attack on Imber Village went in on time.

Six platoon made the main thrust through the centre of the village whilst 5 platoon went forward to carry out a flanking action.  Much to 5 platoon's disappointment, the enemy withdrew in disarray and no contact was made.
