Adobe Acrobat Guidelines

This page is intended to explain the common features of Adobe Acrobat Reader for those users who may not be experienced with how to use it.

To download Adobe Acrobat Reader

You MUST have Adobe Acrobat Reader V4.0 (or better) loaded locally on your own PC in order to be able to read the Acrobat files in the site.  Click on the icon to go to a download site.

Save the file on your PC

As these files are large, they will take some time to load.  Once they have loaded, you may wish to keep them on your own PC for future reference.  To do this, once they have loaded in Acrobat Reader, click on the "Save" icon in the Acrobat toolbar (usually the leftmost icon) and save in the normal way.

Hide the Bookmark Navigation window

As a default, I have configured the document to open with the bookmark navigation window displayed.  Click on the title to go to the appropriate page.  However, this take up screen space.  To hide it and display more of the page, click on the "Show / Hide Navigation Pane" button in the Acrobat toolbar - usually the icon to the right of the Print icon.

Zoom In

To zoom in and display larger writing but less of the page, click on the "Zoom In" icon in the Acrobat toolbar - this looks like a small magnifying glass.

Find

To find a word anywhere in the Gazette, click on the "Find" icon in the Acrobat toolbar.  This looks like a pair of binoculars.

Print Locally

I have left the Gazettes with the print facility enabled.  However, to minimise the file size, I have set the image compression to very high - so pictures will be very blurry and poor quality.  If you want a higher quality version of the file to print locally, Contact Us and we will send you a larger file where the image quality is much better.
