Steve Henwood Winter 1981 |
WE
congratulate Major Stephen Henwood on his appointment to command "G"
(London Scottish) Coy with effect from 1st November, 1981, taking over from
Major Patrick Layden whose tour of duty ended on Hallowe'en.
Major Henwood's TA service spans some ten years. A scouser from way back, he joined the OTC while studying Economics at Liverpool University in 1971. He became Senior Under Officer in 1973 and was commissioned into the Scottish Division (1/5 1 Highland) in 1974, as a platoon commander with "V" (The Liverpool Scottish) Coy.
He was promoted 2IC of "V" Coy three years later. In July 1979 he moved to London and transferred to "G" Coy holding the post of anti-tank platoon commander for a short period (against heavy odds) then returned to playing second fiddle as 2IC of "G" Coy in 1980. It was a job that he performed rather conscientiously, judging by the number of late nights he devoted to the Company Account in the last few weeks of his 2ICship.
Major Henwood is employed as a Business Analyst with Tate and Lyle Transport in Croydon. His leisured interests include rugby. Doubtless he will have little time for such idle pursuits now.
We also extend to Major Henwood our very best wishes upon his marriage to Miss Gill Rennie on l6th December, 1981; to both of them long and happy lives together.
Those of us who value the future of "G" (The London Scottish) Coy look forward to a period of "gung-ho" soldiering and happy comradeship with our new Sunray.
"Sons of dogs, come and I will give youflesh"
(Motto of the Clan Cameron).
